Hull Truck Theatre are delighted to announce their full Hull Truck Screen spring and summer season, including live theatre broadcasts, independent films and unique screening events.

Opening the Hull Truck Screen season is the glorious comedy As You Like It, the first production of Shakespeare’s play from the National Theatre in over 30 years, broadcast by NT Live (6 March). Other theatre screenings include the Royal Court’s sell-out Hangmen from In Bruges writer Martin McDonagh (28 April), as well as Romeo and Juliet from the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company starring Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Lily James (Downton Abbey, Cinderella) on 7 July.

Hull Independent Cinema bring their usual diverse offering of world, independent and award winning films, beginning with Suffragette on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day. Other highlights include Youth starring Michael Caine (21 March), Taiwanese martial arts film The Assassin (25 April), and 2015 Palme d’Or winning French crime drama Dheepan (6 June).

Following the sell-out screening of Florence and the Uffizi Gallery in February, Hull Truck Theatre are broadcasting a second documentary from Discover Arts to give audiences full access to some of the world’s most captivating galleries, theatres and works of art. Take a tour around Milan’s Teatro Alla Scala opera house in a film which explores the musical, social and political events in the venue’s 238-year history (11 June).

Hull Truck Theatre are also showing a special sing-a-long-a version of Disney’s hit film Frozen complete with on screen lyrics (1 June). Children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from the film to make the visit extra magical.

Mark Babych, Hull Truck Theatre’s Artistic Director, said: “We’ve teamed up with our partners Hull Independent Cinema, Picturehouses, NT Live and Discover Arts to introduce another varied and exciting Hull Truck Screen season. I urge audiences to come along and enjoy some of the world’s best cinematic talent on our state of the art screen”.
