Make the most of your chocolate treats with these Easter baking recipes

Easter is the perfect opportunity to over indulge on our favourite chocolatey treats, so here’s a few Easter baking recipes you’ll love…

Creme Egg Tray Bake

This delicious recipe from Cadbury’s is a great use of your Easter Creme Eggs

You will need:


  • 175g unsalted butter (softened)
  • 175g caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 50g Cadbury Bourneville cocoa


  • 150g icing sugar
  • 5 Cadbury Creme Eggs (smashed up)
  • 25g Cadbury Bourneville cocoa


How to prepare:

1. Grease a 31x20cm shallow tin and preheat the oven to gas mark 4/180°C

2. Beat together the butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy

3. Add the eggs one at a time, and beat well after each addition

4. Add the flour, baking powder and cocoa and fold in

5. Add the mixture to the prepared tin, push into the corners and level out the top. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes (test with a skewer, it should come out clean if cake is cooked).

6. Once cooked, allow to cool on a wire rack

7. Sift the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl and add three teaspoons of water to make a spreadable icing

8. Spread the icing over the top of the cooled cake and top with smashed pieces of Creme Egg

Mini Egg Meringue Nests


Another great recipe from Cadbury’s – these yummy little meringues are filled with one of the best loved Easter treats.

You will need:

  • 2 medium egg whites
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 1 Cadbury’s Flake (crushed)
  • 50g Cadbury Mini Eggs (roughly chopped)


How to prepare:

1. Grease 2 baking trays and preheat the oven gas mark ¼/110°C

2. Using an electric mixer, whisk the egg whites until stiff

3. Add the sugar a little at a time, whisking well to form a thick, glossy meringue

4. Fold in the crushed flake and spoon or pipe onto the baking sheets (mixture should make approximately 16 meringues)

5. Make a small hollow with a teaspoon to form a nest shape and top with the chopped mini eggs

6. Bake for 3 hours until crisp and dry, allow to cool and enjoy!

Triple Chocolate Brownies


As it’s Easter, why not go all out with these triple chocolate brownies from BBC…yum!

You will need:

  • 275g plain chocolate
  • 275g unsalted buter
  • 85g pecans (broken into pieces)
  • 85g milk chocolate (cut into large chunks)
  • 85g white chocolate (cut into large chunks)
  • 175g plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 large eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 325g caster sugar

How to prepare:

1. Grease a baking tin and preheat the oven to gas mark 3/170°C

2. Add the plain chocolate and butter in a large bowl, place over a pan of simmering water and allow to melt

3. Meanwhile, sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl and set aside

4. Remove the melted chocolate from the heat and stir in the sugar

5. Add the eggs and vanilla essence

6. Fold in the flour, nuts and chocolate

7. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin and place in the oven for 20-25 minutes. The top should be firm and the inside soft once cooked.

8. Remove from the oven and allow brownies to cool in the tin. Once cooled, cut into square and enjoy!
