We’re very impressed with Soccer Kings on Sutton Fields. Based in what used to be a bowling alley, the unit was transformed into state-of-the-art football facilities in early 2015 and now presents a trio of 3G pitches under LED lighting. Another important feature is security, which is why the owner has pulled out all the stops to create a safe environment for everyone. With CCTV in the car park, a reception area staffed by dedicated team members and an upstairs viewing gallery where parents can keep an eye on their kids, it really is a great place for all ages and abilities to enjoy the beautiful game.

We had a chat with owner Younis Khan, who told us a bit more about how Soccer Kings works: “Everyone is shielded from the elements, so you can enjoy a match any time of day, any day of the year. We cater for everything from children’s parties to casual bookings and tournaments. Whatever you need, just get in touch and we’ll sort it.”

Soccer Kings even hosts Walking Football sessions every Friday from 1pm until 2pm. This is a slower version of the sport and ideal for people aged over 50 or those returning after an injury, with games priced at a very affordable £2 per player. Then there’s Bubble Football, which is at the other end of the scale and involves players wearing inflatable balls in the newest craze to hit Hull. If you’re looking for something more traditional, there are regular Men’s Leagues, Women’s Leagues, corporate bookings, birthday party packages, Youth Leagues and Football Camps for kids, and the option to reserve a pitch for a friendly competition with mates whenever you fancy it.

Soccer Kings gets all kinds of visitors, from first-timers to professional players, so don’t be afraid to pay them a visit. You can even watch friends and family play whilst enjoying a drink from the bar or a cuppa in the lower foyer, so it really does cater to every need.

“We’re firm believers that football should be a social experience,” added Younis. “We help people get the most out of every game, be it fitness, a challenge or just good fun.”
