Highways England say the planning permission for the footbridge hasn’t been approved, so nothing is confirmed.

The much-anticipated A63 Castle Street Footbridge is to be put forward to Hull City Council for planning permission, as soon as the application is finished.

It’s design is still in the early stages, with nothing in the plans being confirmed – as yet.

In a statement, Highways England project manager, Jimmy Holmes, said:

“The development and design of the Princes Quay bridge is still at an early stage and we are currently finalising a planning application to go to Hull City Council for consideration.

“At this stage, although no decision has been taken to separate the construction of the bridge from the wider Castle Street scheme, which is still being worked up, we are exploring how we might be able to secure the funding and construct the bridge before the main scheme.

“We appreciate the public interest in the scheme and are continuing to do everything possible to construct the bridge in time for City of Culture in 2017.”

The images are part of an incomplete planning application and are not suitable to be released at this stage.
