Kind-hearted employees at KC have donated hundreds of items to Hull Foodbank following a recent collection.

More than 300 tins and another 150 items of food and drink were handed over to the charity which has helped over 8,000 local people since December 2011.

The number of people requiring help from the Foodbank is rising all the time and KC’s Community Coordinator, Brendon Smurthwaite, said:

“This was a fantastic opportunity for our people to get involved in helping the local community and the response we had to the collection was tremendous.

“There are many reasons why people find themselves in food poverty and the problem can escalate during the summer holidays for families whose children qualify for free school meals.

“Having the collection was an easy way for us to make a difference at an important time of the year and everyone who made a donation, no matter how big or small, has done that.”

Sarah Sidwell, Project Manager at Hull Foodbank, added:

“We’re very grateful for all of the items that have been donated and they’ll go into emergency food parcels for local people.

“The school holidays are a difficult time for those families whose children receive free school meals and these donations will make a huge difference to them.”
