Thirteen employees from KC’s parent company KCOM Group swapped their cars for bikes and took to the saddle recently, pedalling across northern Italy on a gruelling cycling challenge for charity.

The four day challenge started in Venice and finished in Genoa, with the intrepid cyclists covering 330 miles on a route that provided a real test of physical and mental strength.

Their efforts so far, have raised just under £50,000 for children’s medical research charity Sparks, exceeding the original target of £38,000.

Gary Young, managing director of KC, took part in the ride and commented: “It was a tough four days but also a tremendous experience. There was a great spirit amongst the team and a real collective sense of achievement when we finally reached Genoa.

“There were plenty of aching bodies at the end, but raising such a large amount of money for charity makes it all worthwhile. We’d like to say a huge thank you to the many businesses who supported us in achieving and exceeding our fundraising target.”

The KCOM Cycles Team would like to extend their sincere thanks to the following companies who have kindly supported the challenge.

Adare, Adva , Airco, Blue Helix, Bonus Electrical, Cisco, Claughtons, Comtec , Contrac Print Management, Emtelle, Eon Media, Eversheds, Frillo, Hall Group, Ideal, Jelf Insurance Partnership, John Brocklesby Metal Management, Light Source, ManageMentors, Metaswitch, Mills, MKM Building Supplies, Neil Hudgell Solicitors, Netlynk, Nimans, Prysmian Group, Rollits, SmartPicture, Spencer Group, Springfield Solutions, Strawberry, TE Connectivity, ZyXel.
