KC is backing local judo athlete Molly Storey as she aims to fulfil a dream of representing her country at the 2020 Olympic Games.

KC is providing funding for Molly (17) for three years via SportsAid, a national charity that helps the next generation of British athletes by giving them financial support and recognition during the critical early stages of their career.

A pupil at South Hunsley School, Molly was a gold-medallist in her age group at the 2012 Commonwealth Championships and repeated the feat at the recent Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester.

Molly trains with the British Junior Cadets and competes regularly in the -52kg weight category as she continues on a pathway which will hopefully take her to the European Cup and European Championships in the near future.

“Ultimately my goal is to compete in the 2020 Olympics, but in order to reach that level I need to compete in the European Championships,” Molly commented.

“To improve my ranking I need to keep competing and get as many wins under my belt as possible.

“Travelling to compete abroad is expensive and without sponsorship would have been almost impossible for me.

“I’m truly grateful to KC for their support and hope I can bring some more medals home.”

Gary Young, managing director of KC, added:

“Molly is a dedicated young athlete who has a real ambition to make it to the top of her chosen sport.

“As a local company we’re only too happy to play our part in helping a local athlete to try and fulfil their ambition.

“We’ll be following Molly’s progress over the next three years and hope that our support will help her continued development.”
