Thousands of people are expected to attend a fireworks display in north Hull on Wednesday.

Organisers said around 3,500 visitors were likely to descend on Dales Leisure Centre in North Bransholme for the event, which will start at 6pm.

Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Grove is to launch the fireworks display on the main field next to Snowden Way.

Four marquees will be put up for visitors, and a range of refreshments, stalls as well as games for children will be on offer.

Those planning to attend the display are urged to get to the leisure centre as early as possible, and drivers are asked to be careful when parking their vehicles at the site.

Anita Harrison, councillor for Bransholme East, said the event would be fantastic.

She said the organisers were confident that more than 3,500 people would attend the fireworks display, adding that there could easily be more than 4,000.
