More than 400 new homes are to be built in two villages in the East Riding of Yorkshire, it has been announced.

said it will build 410 houses in Anlaby’s Lowfield Road and Hessle’s Jenny Brough Lane, a move which will create 700 jobs – although not all of these will be new ones.

However, the company – which is part of Barratt Homes – announced that skilled workers will remain in employment.

Barratt Homes has already carried out work in the East Yorkshire area, in Beverley and Kingswood.

The firm said it had decided to build more properties in the area as demand for housing continues to be high.

Almost all the available spaces at Kingswood are now taken after a huge number of buyers used the Government’s Help To Buy scheme to make their first step on to the property ladder.

There is still space for new housing estates in the East Riding’s western villages, but Hull city centre is almost completely full.
