Party goers in Yorkshire and the Humber will be spending an average of just under £50 on their New Year’s Eve celebrations this year.

But don’t expect bars and pubs to be full as 58% of people in the region are planning a night in, according to a survey from Post Office Money Home Insurance.

But there is still plenty of partying going on in the region, which has the 4th highest number of people spending their New Year’s Eve out on the town, the figures show.

Only Londoners (44%), the South West (52%) and those in the East Midlands (55%) have fewer people planning to stay in.

Londoners are the big spenders, with budgets for the night more than double (£110) those in Yorkshire and the Humber (£47).

There will be plenty of opportunities for locals to spend their £47 tonight, from live music in Hull’s many bars and clubs to the Flamborough Fire Festival.
