St Stephen’s has hosted a variety of high-street names since it opened in 2007. In recent months, previously unused units have suddenly been kitted out to present everything from Gravity Trampoline Parks to Fun Station, which opens this Saturday.

Another newbie that has popped up and proven very popular from day one is NYC Bar & Grill. We paid a visit to get a true taste of New York.

The first thing you’ll notice as you approach is that NYC Bar & Grill is a big, bright, vibrant place to eat, perfectly living up to its stateside name. The moment you enter, you’re given a proper US welcome (albeit in a local accent) and shown to a comfortable table or booth.

The menu is fantastic and presents a huge range of meal options, including ribs, hot dogs, chicken, salads, sides and sharers. However, what the joint really specialises in is burgers, with over thirty varieties to choose from, including five veggie versions.

The burgers menu starts off with the classic American and the Original Juicy Lucy (beef pattie stuffed with Monterey Jack). Then there’s the New Yorker, with its pastrami, American mustard and gherkin relish, and the Rockafeller with garlic mayo, paying tribute to the USA in both name and nature.

If you’re feeling really adventurous, try the Peanut Butter Burger or the Nutella Burger, which are pretty self-explanatory and extremely indulgent, even for those with a particularly sweet tooth.

Our table went for a mix of burgers and ribs. The Yankee Doodle (pictured) is from the Style Burger range, which comes as either beef or chicken. This one was double Juicy Lucy, complemented by sweet cured bacon, pulled pork, maple hickory sauce, onion rings, and fries topped with mac and cheese.

As for the added bonus sticking out of the top, that’s a corn dog, AKA a battered hot dog sausage. It’s practically a starter in itself and the ideal way to begin your banquet.

This was all washed down with a few bottles of Goose Island IPA, a great craft beer by a pioneering Chicago brewery. We would have followed it all up with desserts, but not one of us could manage one after such a feast.

As for the atmosphere, NYC Bar & Grill was full during our visit and had a great buzz going on. It wasn’t too loud and the surroundings were welcoming, with smiling staff ready to offer suggestions.

Being in St Stephen’s, the place is safe and secure, easy to find, great for parking, and perfect if you want to follow up your visit with a few drinks in the city centre.

With so many unique and mouthwatering options to choose from, NYC Bar & Grill is somewhere you can visit dozens of times without getting the same meal twice.

Overall, it’s the perfect place for friends and families to grab a bite. And thanks to the stylish decor and lighting, you can honestly imagine you’re on the other side of the pond whilst there.

If you like to pick before you visit, you can view the NYC Bar & Grill menus online.
