People from across Yorkshire can play a big part in the return of cycling to the region next month.

The Children’s Hospital Charity, which is an official partner of the Tour de Yorkshire wants volunteers to help stage the race, which starts in Bridlington and has finish lines in Scarborough, York and Leeds.

The three-day event takes place between 1 and 3 May and those behind the event want to replicate the electric atmosphere of the Grand Depart last year.

Throughout the event money will be raised for the Children’s Hospital’s Make It Better appeal, which aims to raise £10 million by 2016 to transform the hospital in Sheffield.

Rebecca Staden, fundraising manager at The Children’s Hospital Charity, said organisers are keen for volunteers to form a key part of the Tour de Yorkshire. She said they need “an army” of volunteers for the tour, as well as during the Maserati Ride sportive on the Sunday.

She added the event will be “epic” and volunteers would be helping to raise money to improve the hospital, which is attended by thousands of children every year.

To find out more about being a volunteer, email before April 25.
