Getting a bird’s eye view of Hull is now only the click of a mouse away.

The East Yorkshire metropolis is just one of six in the UK and 148 across the globe featured in Apple Maps’ new Flyover service.

It means web users can view the city from a totally different perspective, giving them a high-tech opportunity to enjoy a breath-taking 3D tour high above Hull’s rooftops.

Apple added six other cities on Wednesday morning, including ones as far afield as Puerto Rico, Spain, Germany and Portugal.

Local business leaders claim Hull’s inclusion is a sign of its growing importance on the worldwide stage.

Other Flyover destinations already available before this week included Mount Rushmore and Stonehenge.

Web users must employ an iOS 6 system-fitted Apple device before they can enjoy the software.

Once they have opened Apple Maps, they should hone in on the East Yorkshire city and click on a 3D button found in the screen’s bottom-left-hand corner. An icon which shows local buildings will then appear on the screen.
