With Hull and East Yorkshire set to freeze over in the coming weeks, a glimpse into what life is like in a real winter wonderland may provide some tips on how to cope with the cold.

Visitors to Hull Maritime Museum will be able to go on an epic journey to islands on the edge of the Arctic Circle from today.

The Arctic adventure is courtesy of wildlife photographer of the year, Josh Harrison, who will be opening his exhibition, 79 Degrees North, at the museum tomorrow.

The aim of the exhibition is to provide a glimpse into the timeless landscapes of the Arctic through the eyes of the explorers and hunters who first braved its icy reaches.

According to Josh there is some unique and amazing wildlife to be found in the Arctic.

He hopes that his new exhibition will inspire someone with an interest in the area to follow in his footsteps and visit the area themselves.

Josh’s incredible photographs are accompanied and complemented by pieces from the museum’s collections that shed light on the Arctic world, including early explorers’ equipment and a walrus skull.
