More details have been revealed about this summer’s showdown between Hull boxers Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle.

The fight will be an official eliminator for the WBC World Lightweight title, and will take place on August 1st at the KC Lightstream Stadium.

Tickets for the fight will go on sale tomorrow.

Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Boxing said it’s set to be one of the biggest sporting events Hull has ever seen:

“Two world-ranked lightweight contenders will battle it out in an official eliminator for the WBC World title – it’s East versus West, a city divided with everything on the line. Fans can expect a huge card with the rematch set for Brian Rose to exact revenge over Carson Jones, two-weight World champion Ricky Burns and undefeated Super Featherweight champ Martin Ward defending his title. It’s going to be an epic night for the city.”

Olympic champion Luke Campbell told KCFM it’ll be a once in a lifetime fight:

“I don’t think Hull will ever see two local fighters, at high points in their careers, going for a world title eliminator in their home town. It’s big news

“I’m training hard to give the fans a good show on August 1st- there’ll be plenty of punches thrown that night, put it that way.”

Both Campbell and Coyle will be at a public press conference at Hull City Hall at 6pm tonight.
