A new Bridlington housing estate with a Beatles link is set to be finished next month.

The 48 council properties off Pinfold Lane are being split into three streets named after the group’s hits Rigby Close, Penny Lane and Eleanor Avenue.

This week a council delegation visited the £5.5 million site, which comprises 20 two-bedroomed properties and 28 three-bedroomed ones.

Work on this affordable housing scheme, which began last April, is the latest in a series of similar schemes being run by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Symon Fraser, a politician on the council with special responsibilities for housing, said the demand for such accommodation is still great throughout the district.

The scheme, which is part of the town’s Local Plan, should be finished at the close of April.

A council delegation was guided around the homes to see the excellent progress that has been made.

Cllr Fraser said he was “delighted” that the scheme will bring “excellent quality” properties for East Riding’s council tenants.
