Beverley is set to go back in time 600 years this weekend and celebrate one of England’s major military victories. The town is holding a series of events to commemorate The Battle of Agincourt and St John of Beverley’s links to the battle.

Helen Watson, town clerk at Beverley Town Council says there’s lots going on: “We’re not just looking at the Battle of Agincourt, we’re looking at the guilds, at the cookery, we’re looking at what the ladies would have worn, what the gentlemen would have worn, what the children would have done and what life in a market town would have looked like, because we’ve got to remember Beverley is a medieval market town.”

“600 years ago Beverley existed, it was just very different. There were lots of trades then, lots of people still living in the town, we had lots of culture, lots of visitors used to come to Beverley then, we had lots of markets, there’s still lots of similarities between Beverley 600 years ago and Beverley now.”
