Beverley Minster has been turned purple tonight for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

It’s the second year the minster’s taken part, after several of its members have been affected by the disease and wanted to show their support.

Holly Raper, one of the organisers, says they want to help others: “We’ve got a remembrance tree which is going to be inside, so people can write on and pin things to the tree to remember friends, family and other people who are or have been affected by pancreatic cancer.”

She says  you’ll be able to see it from miles around: “Last year we drove over the Westwood and we could see it purple, we drove down the bypass as if you’re going towards Kingswood and you could see it, and if you go down the new bypass around Beverley you’ll be able to see it really, really nicely there.”
