Blackmail case leads to police warning

People in Hull are being warned about the dangers of sharing images of themselves online following a blackmail case which was reported to Humberside Police.

The force said that a woman had threatened to share explicit footage of a man she had befriended on a social networking site with other internet users unless he paid her money.

She reportedly threatened to publish film of him carrying out intimate acts after recording a call that had taken place between them.

This incident, as well as another similar case, has prompted Humberside Police to issue a warning about the risks involved in posting personal films and pictures.

A spokesman for the force said that this kind of filming should only be sanctioned if the parties fully trust one another and are comfortable with others viewing it.
