Dutch pop and jazz singer Caro Emerald is performing at Hull City Hall this Wednesday as part of her 25-date UK and Ireland tour.

A very popular vocalist, Caro has recently been extremely busy recording her new album.

Emerald Island was released last year and the red-lipped singer can’t wait to bring it to the UK:

“A new year, new songs, a new show, a new tour. I can’t wait to come over to the UK again, I’m really looking forward to it,” Caro tells us.

The tour kicked off at the end of March in Carlisle and will continue until Monday 1 May, when she will perform in Dublin.

On top of this, the singer and her band will be playing three fantastic festivals across the country. These are the Hampton Court Palace Festival, Love Supreme and Larmer Tree.

Growing up in the Netherlands, Caroline Esmeralda van der Leeuw had a passion for music from a young age.

“From twelve years old I attended singing lessons and eventually joined a girl vocal group. I then went on to train as a jazz vocalist at the distinguished Amsterdam Conservatory.”

In 2010, Caro had much success with her multi-platinum debut album Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor. Since then, the vibrant artist has created her own signature genre.

Combining the best of retro jazz with fresh modern sounds, Caro is one-of-a-kind when it comes to pop stars. Her catchy track ‘A Night Like This’ is bouncy, fun and memorable.

Three years later, The Shocking Miss Emerald was released and entered the UK charts at number one, remaining in the top 40 for a whole year.

This, plus 2.5 million record sales, 40 million YouTube views and a whole host of awards, bagged her prestigious slots at Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight.

BBC Radio 2 even featured her at New Year during Ana Matronic’s slot. You can re-listen to New Year’s Eve Party with Caro Emerald here.

Already selling out at 13 venues across the UK, The Emerald Island Tour is set to be an incredible experience. Many fans have commented on her infectious sense of fun and vintage Hollywood charm, whilst others have said that she oozes warmth and vitality.

Wherever she goes, Caro fills the space with stunning vocals, complemented by the retro beats of her Anglo-Dutch band. This lively, fresh show with tantalising nostalgia is a must-see.

With 13 of her 25 tour stops sold out, many in advance, it is recommended that you grab your tickets as soon as possible. This gig is a perfect addition to your UK City of Culture activity and will be an event to remember.

Caro Emerald performs at Hull City Hall on Wednesday 19 April. Tickets start from £22.50 and can be booked by calling 01482 300306, or you can book online.
