Hull FC supremo Adam Pearson has hailed the contribution of coach Lee Radford in his first season in charge.

Pearson said Radford was “the perfect man” for the job, after the Airlie Birds finished just five points outside a Super League play-off spot last season.

The chairman told the BBC that Radford “understands the culture here”, and underlined how important it is for the club to “get the empathy back” with the fans.

Pearson said Radford had re-organised the club “from top to bottom” and he reiterated he was proud of what the coach had achieved, despite what was far from an easy season.

Radford stepped up from assistant coach after his predecessor Peter Gentle was sacked in September 2013. Pearson said he is determined to see the Black and Whites striving for a play-off spot in the top eight next year.
