Hull KR coach Chris Chester was full of praise for his forwards following their comprehensive victory over Widnes Vikings.

Ken Sio scored a hat-trick as they ran out 38-16 winners at the KC Lightstream Stadium to boost their chances of a top eight place.

Kris Welham, Maurice Blair, Josh Mantellato and Albert Kelly also went over in what Chester described as an outstanding display.

“”In terms of effort, desire and aggression, it was first class,” he said.

“We let them back in the game in the second half through silly errors. But the forwards led the platform in the first half.”

The Robins raced into a 26-10 half-time lead. But two-try winger Mantellato was replaced three minutes after the restart due to injury – and Chester hopes the Italian will not be out of action for too long.

Hull KR sit tenth in the table, one point behind the Vikings and two points behind Hull FC.
