Staff at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Gilberdyke are searching for foster carers for its dogs – and a permanent home for one that has been at the centre for six months.

Lurcher cross Tiko has been at the East Yorkshire centre longer than any other dog at any of the charity’s five locations across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. The staff at Gilberdyke are desperate to find him a loving new owner.

The three-year-old is a fun-loving dog, cheeky and intelligent, according to the charity’s fundraiser Jenny Harris.

The centre is in need of foster carers who can look after dogs on a temporary basis until a permanent home can be found for them.

Jenny says dogs can get too used to living in kennels and it is better if they are in loving homes.

She is appealing to those who have experience with dogs but can’t take in a dog on a full-time basis to consider doing it in the short term instead.

Dogs tend to be fostered for between four to six week at a time, Jenny says.
