East Yorkshire youngsters are to take part in a Humberside Police Night Challenge orienteering event on Saturday.

The event is designed for people between the ages of 13 and 17 living in any area served by the Humberside force and it will see them working alongside professionals from various East Yorkshire organisations, including Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, HM Prison Service and Humberside Police.

Also taking part in the event that starts at Hull Ionians, Brantingham Dale, Elloughton, are members of the Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteering Club.

The event is a 14-mile hike with challenges along the way and it is supported by the High Sheriffs’ & Humberside Police Tribune Trust.

Trust director Paul Cheeseman says the event really puts young people to the test and it gives them a sense of achievement when they complete the tough course and challenges. They might be wet and covered in mud but they are keen to face more outdoors challenges, he says.

Ring 01482 220 700 if you think you are up to the challenge.
