Two groups of youngsters from East Yorkshire will be jetting off to France after making a real difference in their communities.

Judges of this year’s Humberside Police Lifestyle Awards, a project that challenges young people to get involved in their local area during their spare time, chose to elect two winners in the new junior category.

The Awesome 4 Some of Brough and The Brilliant Bikers from Kirk Ella both impressed the panel with their hard work.

Awesome 4 Some promote learning to sign to pre-school and primary school children, while The Brilliant Bikers raised money to purchase a local disabled boy a specially adapted tricycle, as well as further tricycles for a local project.

Their reward is a week-long holiday in France, including two days at Euro Disney. It is the first time in the competition’s 27 year history that there has been a tie.

More than 600 young people aged between 10 and 18 took part in this year’s event, raising over £40,000 for good causes.

The winner of the senior category was The Gauntlets Return, from Grimsby, who worked for local animal charity The Ark Animal Rescue. They were rewarded with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to South Africa.
