A man who lost his life in a road accident in Gilberdyke on Saturday morning has been named as 65-year-old Keith Calvert.

Humberside Police says Mr Calvert, who lived at Oaklands in the East Yorkshire village, died at the scene of the accident on Main Road.

A Land Rover Discovery driven by a 19-year-old, also from Gilberdyke, hit Mr Calvert’s stationary white Land Rover Freelander while he was standing behind it, police say.

The emergency services were called to the scene of the crash shortly after 8.30am and the road was closed until 6pm, with traffic being diverted down Tongue Lane.

The driver of the Discovery, who sustained minor injuries in the collision, was arrested and has since been released on bail.

Humberside Police officers who are investigating Mr Calvert’s death would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident and they are asking witnesses to call the 101 non-emergency number.
