East Yorkshire residents are being warned to put away the sun lotion and get out the waterproofs, ahead of what is expected to be an unsettled weekend of showers.

A cold front looks set to follow the warmer, drier start to the week – with more in the way of cloud on Wednesday and Thursday. It will though remain dry and there will be one or two sunny spells, according to the forecasters at the Met Office.

The likely temperatures in the middle of the week are 11C or 12C but they could return to the levels seen on Tuesday, as high as 15C on Friday and Saturday, when East Yorkshire residents will see more of the sun.

Forecasters expect rain to arrive on Saturday evening and the cold front will arrive in earnest on Sunday morning with more showers likely early in the day.

Temperatures are expected to hit around 11C or 12C on Sunday.
