Two groups of young people from East Yorkshire have won awards for charitable work carried out in their communities during the summer.

Kirk Ella’s Brilliant Bikers and Awesome 4 Some of Brough were crowned joint-winners of the Humberside Police Operation Lifestyle project – and their members will travel to France for a team-building adventure experience.

Brilliant Bikers raised enough money to buy a tricycle for a young disabled person, while Awesome 4 Some promoted the use of sign language in pre-schools and primary schools in their area.

Sergeant James Main, who has led this year’s event, praised all participants who volunteered their time to help others in their communities.

He said: “We have seen some outstanding entries to this year’s Humberside Police Operation Lifestyle and I would like to thank every single team for their dedication and hard work.

“The projects they have completed, in their own time over the summer, have made a real difference to the communities they live in and they should all be very proud of what they have achieved.”

The teams that participated in this year’s initiative raised a collective total of more than £40,000.
