Located on the top floor of the brand new DoubleTree by Hilton in Hull, The Lexington Bar opened its doors in late 2017.

We spoke with Bar Manager, Sam Chambers, to find out more about the brand new venue.

“When you arrive, there is a dedicated lift that takes you directly up to the fourth floor. As you enter, there’s the bar to your left and a VIP section right in front of you,” Sam explains. “This area can be hired out for large parties who are celebrating a special occasion.”

The bar stands on the old site of the popular Lexington Avenue nightclub, affectionally known by locals as LAs. It has been transformed into the ideal spot for pre- or post-theatre drinks, or refreshment after a long day exploring the city’s shopping centres and galleries.

“We’ve tried to offer a wide range of activities. The Lexington Bar is great for a catchup over coffee during the daytime, or even some drinks in the afternoon and evening. And of course, we’re open until late, too.”

Meanwhile, as the weather gets warmer, visitors can enjoy the new rooftop terrace that overlooks the city.

“Our terrace will feature a living wall, equipped with wicker furniture and heaters. It’ll be a great place to spend time with friends in the summer sun.”

On the menu there’s an extensive choice of your usual beverages, including wines, beers and cocktails. Special recipes have also been crafted especially for the Hull branch.

“Signature cocktails include Humber Mist, View from the Fourth and The Lexington,” Sam tells us. “And watch this space – a new menu is going to be launched at the beginning of February.”

If you’re feeling peckish, The Lexington serves food from 9am until 7pm every day:

“We serve nibbles, olives, breads and sharing platters for those who want something to go with their drinks. We also have a range of main meals, such as burgers and salads.”

Since opening just before Christmas, the bar has proved popular among both hotel guests and visitors.

“We’ve been really busy so far. A lot of people are popping up for a nosey and, of course, we’ve just had New Year,” she adds. “We had a DJ and it was a fantastic night. Everyone had a brilliant time, drinking champagne, cocktails and dancing into the early hours.”

The Lexington is also planning to host a number of exciting nights in the future:

“After the success of New Year’s Eve, we’re now looking at getting a resident DJ to put on a regular night for our customers,” Sam reveals. “Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so keep your eyes peeled for special events plus VIP nights, industry nights and even cocktail masterclasses.”

After speaking with Sam, you can truly see her passion for the new space:

“It’s a completely different experience from what you’d usually expect from a hotel bar. It’s a fabulous chance to reminisce about the good old days at LAs.”

The Lexington Bar is open daily from 9am-1am.
