A former Humberside policeman based at Hornsea station has been jailed after admitting a string of sexual assault and misconduct offences.

Sheffield Crown Court handed Ex-Constable Lee Kershaw a three-year jail term on Wednesday .

Kershaw, 37, had admitted guilt to four counts of misconduct in a public office and four charges of sexual assault.

Kershaw was known as PC Lee Rackham when he was stationed in Hornsea.

Humberside Police dismissed Kershaw in 2009 when the allegations were first heard.

Chief Supt Rick Proctor said after the sentencing that serious misconduct and corruption “undermines” the force’s attempts to safeguard local people, restricts its effectiveness and erodes public trust.

Mathew Hutchinson, a Detective Superintendent from the force’s major incident squad, says that Kershaw committed some “very serious” crimes and abused his trust in the position.
