A renewable energy firm is seeking funding for a biomass power plant near Hull.

Dublin-based Solar 21 is hoping to secure £46.7 million for the pioneering project.

It is one of several big names in the renewables industry to set up shop in Hull in recent years. Others include Siemens and Dong Energy.

“Since 2010, Solar 21 has delivered consistently high returns to our investors,” says Michael Bradley, chief executive of the company.

“Our team understands renewable energy and we are acutely aware of the value to investors of a steady, above-average return. This is a perfect opportunity for conscientious investors to participate in an ethical company while securing strong returns.”

Construction on the 22MW plant started in October last year. It will be the first of five pipeline projects by Solar 21 in partnership with Heat Recovery Solutions and CF Struthers, with complete values of more than €1 billion (£778 million) between them.
