East Yorkshire is to get a major jobs boost with plans for a new business park in Goole.

The plans, which could create 3,000 new jobs in the region, have been given the go-ahead by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Capitol Park, being developed by Sterling Capitol, will house industrial and warehouse units, retail and leisure facilities, car showrooms and a 100-bed hotel.

The site includes two major elements – Goole36 and Capitol Park – covering an area of 52 hectares (128 acres).

It will be controlled by Sterling Capitol, close to the existing Tesco Regional Distribution Centre, Drax biomass facility and the Guardian Glass factory near junction 36 of the M62.

Goole36 will be promoted for development by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Mike Heydecke, director of Sterling Capitol, said: “These exciting plans will create much-needed business space and jobs in the Goole area.

“Job creation is at the heart of our plans and we have developed some of the most impressive business parks in Yorkshire, with an excellent mix of tenants and facilities.”

The HCA said the figure of 3,000 new and sustainable jobs had been estimated based on the size of the development.
