A town in East Yorkshire is to host a weekly police surgery where residents can chat with officers.

Local neighbourhood police officers in Hessle will run the new surgery in the town hall every Wednesday and Saturday, in a bid to improve communication between authorities and members of the public.

It is a great chance for the community to speak with officers about issues concerning them and their town.

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector James Glansfield is encouraging people of all ages to come along and take advantage of the surgeries. He is hopeful they will attract big crowds and promote local discussion.

The Wednesday surgery will be held between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, while the one on Saturday will take place between 11am and 1pm.

Residents who want to get in touch with neighbourhood officers outside of the surgeries can call them 24/7 on the non-emergency number 101.

The officers can also be reached on social media via both and .
