Recently opened, Hideout Hotel offers luxurious self-contained apartments right in the middle of Hull City Centre.

The boutique apartment hotel is a brand new concept for the city and provides bespoke, flexible accommodation at an affordable price.

We spoke with General Manager, Georgia Allenby, to find out more about the space.

“Our 15 apartments are done up to a really high specification,” she begins. “We’ve tried to source everything as locally as possible, even down to the G.F Smith paper we use in the welcome document. The headboards and sofas are manufactured just two miles away from Hull. Even our coffee comes from a roaster in the region.”

Hideout Hotel is also actively supporting local creatives: “Throughout the hotel, we display artwork and photography. They are all available to purchase, with 100% of the profit going back to the artist.”

Family business, Allenby Commercial, usually focuses on commercial and industrial properties in the Hull and East Yorkshire area, so the “aparthotel” is an exciting new venture for them.

“We’ve been very well received so far, selling out every weekend since we first opened on Saturday 3 June.”

And it’s no wonder, with so many incredible arts, theatre and musical events going on in the city centre for Hull 2017:

“As a business, we’ve been wanting to do this for five years. The announcement of City of Culture gave us the confidence to go through with it, as we knew that a lot of people would be visiting and wanting a place to stay.”

Hideout has a range of room sizes to suit most individuals and groups. These range from their smallest studio apartment, nicknamed The Den, to larger spaces that include two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with the option of a fifth bed if required.

“Each room has a fully-fitted kitchen with all of the things you would find in a usual home, including a dishwasher, fridge, sink, toaster, kettle, and integrated oven and microwave.”

This overlooks an open plan living room, with a separate space for the toilet and bedrooms. All mod cons are included, such as solar powered Velux windows and blinds.

“An aparthotel offers you more flexibility with your stay,” Georgia continues. “You can use the space to have drinks before you go out. You can order a takeaway or even cook your own food to save money during your trip.”

Hideout also offers something a bit more distinctive than your usual city centre stays:

“We’ve gone for a modern Scandinavian-style with a retro twist,” Georgia explains. “Whilst a lot of the walls, floors and fixtures are brand new, we have upcycled some furniture to give it a vintage feel.”

The final phase of the project will launch on Sunday 23 July, with four additional ground floor apartments becoming ready to let.
