Humberside Police investigating a trail of blood in west Hull have been searching the River Humber bank as they suspect someone has been seriously hurt.

Search teams have been scouring the bank near St Andrew’s Dock after the blood trail was discovered on Thursday.

The trail stretched from the Bull Nose area of the dock to Cholmley Street in the city. It could be seen near Mr Chu’s Chinese restaurant, in the subway under Clive Sullivan Way, West Dock Street, Harrow Street, Hessle Road and Constable Street.

A fisherman first reported it before 11am on Thursday.

Local hospitals have been contacted but police don’t think that the person who shed the blood has received any medical assistance yet.

Humberside Police has used its air and sea rescue teams during the search for the injured person. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Humberside Police on the 101 non-emergency number.
