A charity has created a guide for homeless people, listing where they can go for help.

The founder of Hull Homeless Community Project, Andrew Smith, came up with the idea after people kept asking his charity for information about different shelters and advice services.

More than 2,000 leaflets have already been printed and handed out to GP surgeries, stores, pop-up kitchens and various events.

The leaflet is a comprehensive list of organisations that help homeless people and their contact details.

Mr Smith told the Hull Daily Mail: “A huge number of people get in touch with us asking, ‘Where can we go for drug and alcohol advice?’ ‘Where are the shelters?’ What time do they open?'”

“To our surprise, there was no single leaflet listing the names, addresses and telephone numbers of organisations that can help these people. That’s despite the fact that there are a lot of organisations out there.”

The Hull Homeless Community Project distributes food to people sleeping rough and are currently raising money for a catering van.
