The letter asks for an urgent meeting with Premier League officials if a compromise can’t be found.

Hull‘s three MPs and Hull City Council have written a joint letter to the Premier League, criticising them for the demands they’ve made of Hull City AFC’s academy.

The Premier League have insisted the Tigers provide an indoor pitch for their academy to have it’s status upgraded, which they say has forced them to use the Airco Arena, at the expense of the community teams currently there.

Leader of Hull City Council, Councillor Stephen Brady, says:

“Hull City AFC is hugely important to our city and the community, so we’re approaching the Premier League to ask if they would reconsider their requirements in order to allow the Club the time to complete the planned facilities.

“We understand that the Premier League has in other cases been willing to be flexible over timescales and we would hope that the same flexibility could be applied in the case of Hull City.

“By insisting that the club fulfils these requirements in what amounts to a matter of a few short weeks, it has forced the club into taking steps at the Airco Arena that have raised major concerns within the community.

“We fully support the stance of the Club and our local MPs in requesting the Premier League to reconsider its decision in this case. We hope that in reconsidering, the Premier League reach a decision that is in the best interests of the Club and the community.”
