Karl Turner becomes Shadow Attorney General after Catherine McKinnell quit her role in Jeremy Corbyn’s team.

McKinnell warned that the leadership is taking the party “down an increasingly negative path”.

Speaking on his new role, Mr Turner said: “I am delighted to join Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Attorney General.

“I served as Shadow Solicitor General under Ed Miliband and was thrilled to carry on as Law Officer and Justice Minister under Jeremy Corbyn.

“It is important now, more than ever, that we take the fight to the Tories and hold the Government to account.

“Today’s  appointment shows that Hull will have its voice heard on a national level and at the top of the Labour Party once more.

“This is a proud moment for me, to have gone from Bransholme Estate in East Hull, to practicing as a lawyer and now in Shadow Cabinet shows that kids in East Hull can get on and do well.”

He had better keep his eyes wide open as the rats desert the sinking ship.

The ‘rats’ have already deserted this one, John, or been caught with their hands in the till. Time for ordinary people to have a say.

  • When it comes to the crunch…will John act on his beliefs of the people who put him there or just follow a leader who is for me just wandering round in circles…
