Hull-based entrepreneurs ViSR VR are in the running for the People’s Choice Award at Pitch@Palace.

ViSR’s product is a virtual reality headset, but at a fraction of the price of those currently on the market.

They’ve gone to Pitch@Palace to showcase the headset to business leaders at St James’s Palace, and the Duke of York, in the hope of attracting more attention and investment.

If they win the online vote for the People’s Choice Award, they’ll get extra stage time to present, which could be crucial in getting the attention of business leaders at the event.

They’re currently based out of the Hull College Centre for Digital and Green Energy.

Louis Deane, Co-founder and CEO of VISR-VR told KCFM how the device works:

“The thing about virtual reality is, in real life you don’t perceive your life, and your life experiences, through a 19 inch rectangle in front of you. You perceive it as being immersed in the experience, and that’s what virtual reality is trying to simulate.”

“Our product produces vibrant, real, very believable virtual reality. It’s very cheap. We’re hoping with this approach that it should actually be free at the point of consumption, so for the consumers of VR, we don’t want them to have to pay for it at all.”
