Hull FC earned city bragging rights with a thumping 60-20 victory over Hull KR in Sunday’s Clive Sullivan Trophy encounter at the KC Stadium.

The Black and Whites ran in 10 tries in a dominant display in the traditional pre-season fixture, with new signings Carlos Tuimavave (two), Mahe Fonua, Sika Manu and Scott Taylor all crossing the whitewash.

Jamie Shaul (two), Mark Minichiello, Steve Michaels and Lee Smith also touched down for Lee Radford’s side to complete the comprehensive win.

Another new face, Frank Pritchard, began his Hull FC career with a man-of-the-match display while Marc Sneyd was in fine goal-kicking form as he landed all 10 conversions.

Hull KR were keen to erase the memory of last weekend’s heavy friendly defeat to Huddersfield and took an early lead through Josh Mantellato’s fifth-minute try, but that was as good as it got for Chris Chester’s side.

A brace of late tries from Kieran Dixon, after an earlier score from Graeme Horne, reduced the deficit but were ultimately scant consolation as Rovers were made to pay for some woeful defending.

The emphatic victory means Hull FC approach their Super League opener against Salford on February 5 with every confidence, while Rovers have plenty of work to do before they tackle Castleford on February 7.

Do not fret if you were unable to attend Sunday’s game, KC Sport is showing full coverage of the game on its website.
