Burger lovers in Hull are among the first in the country to have a fast food giant deliver to their door, in a new pilot scheme.

The city is one of the only eight areas across five counties to get Burger King’s three-month trial home delivery service.

To discover if they qualify for the service, hungry Hull BK fans simply have to put their postcode into the company’s delivery website.

The burger franchise hopes to roll out the scheme across the country later this year.

Other restaurants in Hayes, Gants Hill, Romford, Skegness. Hornchurch, Truro and Romford are also trialling the scheme.

Burger King’s managing director for a wide area including Northern Europe, Matthew Bresnahan, spoke of the firm’s extreme excitement over the new scheme.

The Twittersphere was quick to greet the news. One tweeter, @GreyMCMLXXIX, called the day “momentous”, another, @hpd1998, described it as the dawn of a brand “new era”, while @NotFaulty told of their “pain” at not living in one of the new trial areas.
