Hull community groups, charities and budding entrepreneurs are being invited to claim their share of a £5 million investment pot.

A social enterprise organisation has launched the Yorkshire-wide initiative.

Sheffield-based company Key Fund wants to put £1 million into groups over a five-month period in the shape of grants and loans. These will assist fresh business ventures or cement existing companies’ expansion.

The firm said it tries to make other companies as sustainable as possible by working with applicants.

Key Fund investment head Gary Brown said the offer is available to any people within the Humber or Yorkshire region who have fresh business ideas.

The offer also applies to organisations, communities, charities or enterprises with an entrepreneurial idea.

Mr Brown said the firm understands how difficult it can be balancing the outgoings to deliver positive results within under-privileged districts. He said that many such budding start-up entrepreneurs are unaware of the alternatives to mainstream investors.

All Key Fund is looking for is a “fantastic” idea for business which is to the advantage of society and neither experience nor assets are necessarily required.
