The trial of a man from Hull accused of murdering his partner in a fit of anger is underway.

Deland Allman, 52, of Halyard Croft, denies the murder of 51-year-old Christina Spillane – also known as Christina Randell – but has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Her body was discovered in the Ibis hotel in Hull on 1 February. Humberside Police found the mother-of-two had been stabbed three times before being strangled.

Hull Crown Court heard how Mr Allman killed Ms Spillane after accusing her of having an affair with his cousin. Patrick Palmer, leading the prosecution, told the jury how the couple’s relationship had been “marred by violence”.

He said Ms Spillane had received numerous injuries as a result of violence from Mr Allman in the past, including black eyes, and claimed he had previously tried to strangle her on one occasion.

The trial continues.
