Have you got a flair for dancing and a bubbly personality? If so, Hull Kingston Rovers want to hear from you.

The Super League side held an open dance audition at their KC Lightstream Stadium on Wednesday, from which 15 applicants were successful and could join their cheerleading squad for the 2016 season.

Amelia Lowis, the Robins’ dance development officer, led the search for new dancers and hopes to add more talent to her ranks in the coming weeks.

She told HEYToday: “We had 27 girls attend the audition. We’ve successfully taken 15 girls from that audition and we are looking for five more girls, so there is a chance for other people to get in touch if they would like to take part as well.

“We’re looking for confident dancers with a little bit of dance skill. They don’t have to be professionals and no cheerleading experience is needed  – we just want bubbly personalities.”

If you are still at school, you might have already met Amelia as she delivers dance sessions at schools throughout the Hull and East Yorkshire area.

She said: “The sessions are something a little bit different for them, obviously a different person coming into the school to teach them to their normal teachers.

“I’m a professionally trained dancer so they get a bit of my experience of what I’ve done throughout my lifetime.”

Hull KR reached the Challenge Cup final in August and preserved their Super League status by topping the Super 8s Qualifiers standings – and Amelia believes their next campaign will be a successful one.

She added: “I think next year will be a very positive season – I think it’s going to be possibly one of the best seasons we’ve had in a long time.

“We’ve made a lot of changes to the backroom staff and all the players are on a new regime so I think it’s going to be really good.”
