Police have questioned a Hull rugby league star in relation to grooming claims.

Adam Walker was dropped from Hull KR’s Super League 32-14 defeat at his old team Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

A club statement said that it was thought “appropriate” that Mr Walker was not considered for Sunday’s match. But the club added that his omission was not an acknowledgement of any wrongdoing.

Police had interviewed the 24-year-old prop forward over allegations of trying to participate in sexual relations with a minor.

West Yorkshire’s police force said that Mr Walker went to the station of his own volition and was not arrested.

It said that the action was in Mr Walker’s interests and everybody else’s and that no disciplinary measures had been sanctioned.

The Bradford-born player is currently a year into a three-year contract at Rovers.

He has seven Scottish caps, having made his international debut in October 2013 against Tonga.
