Hull-based rugby league player Adam Walker has appeared before a court in relation to child sex allegations.

The Hull Kingston Rovers prop did not enter a formal plea at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday (March 1), the BBC reports.

Rovers say they will continue to consider 24-year-old Walker for selection.

He has been charged with two counts of trying to engage in sexual activity with a minor.

The Super League player and Scottish international is due to reappear in Leeds for his trial on September 21.

Walker, from the West Yorkshire town of Shipley, joined Rovers from Huddersfield Giants four years ago. Hull KR have earlier said that it knew about the charges Walker is facing.

The club added that it would “continue to support Adam and he will remain available for selection”.

Walker is seen by many at the club as an impact player, often coming off the bench in the latter stages of matches.
