Hull City Council is offering hundreds of community groups and schools the chance to spring clean the city this weekend.

They have 300 free Big Tidy-Up kits to help people make their area even tidier.

This will involve sprucing up Hull’s parks, high streets, business areas and estates on Friday and Saturday (March 20 and 21).

The council-backed Keep Britain Tidy Community Clear-Up Day campaign is part of similar initiatives going on nationwide.

The toolkit offer is available to schools, community and uniformed groups, housing associations and Women’s Institutes.

All you have to do to apply for the pack, which includes borrowed gloves, bags and litter pickers, is ring 01482 300 300.

There are also a number of online resources for children and adults to explore.

These include advice on how to plan a tidy-up, leaflets which can be specially tailored to suit a group’s needs plus banners and posters which can help promote and arrange a cleaning event.
