Two men who entered a derelict Hull property in search of scrap metal found a dead body instead, it is believed.

This story has emerged as Humberside Police continue to investigate a man’s unexplained death.

He was found in the Clyde Street premises on Wednesday (January 20) at about 1pm.

The man is thought to be local and aged 30-something, but is still to be formally identified.

One nearby resident, Nick Scholey, from Hawthorn Avenue, told Hull Daily Mail reporters: “I heard that two men were looking for scrap metal in the area and went into the building to see if there was anything in there and that’s when they found the man’s body inside.”

Police hope the facts will become clearer after a post-mortem test is carried out to ascertain how the man died.

Keepmoat construction company is currently undertaking a massive regeneration of the road’s derelict buildings.
