A new £2.7 million Hull regeneration project is due to start this week.

The Beverley Road Townscape Heritage initiative officially launches this Thursday between 10am and 1pm with a special event.

The aim is to bring the area’s historic buildings back to their former glory between now and 2020.

It follows the Heritage Lottery Fund accepting a bid in July and relates to Beverley Road’s southern end.

Scheme board chair Rilba Jones will speak at the event along with scheme colleagues at Beverley Road’s Endeavour Skills and Training Centre.

A presentation will outline the planned initiative and the work involved.

Residents, contractors, companies and community groups in the vicinity are all welcome to attend free of charge to discover what the project entails.

They must book in advance by emailing beverleyroadheritage@hullcc.gov.uk or ringing 01482 318573.

Councillor Jones believes the scheme will be hugely positive to the road’s conservation area.

Martin Mancey, a councillor with special responsibilities for the project, is urging local contractors to get involved, including conservation experts.
