Art and design students in Hull are getting ready to try and impress the most powerful woman in the world of fashion.

Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, will be at the Northern Youth Fashion Show on January 29.

Hull School of Art & Design degree students will also be in attendance at the University of York, showing off their latest dress designs on the catwalk.

They were approached by the institution’s fashion publication, HARD Magazine, to take part alongside fashion students from seven other northern universities.

“The students are looking forward to meeting Anna Wintour and listening to her views on the dynamics of fashion show and the creativity of the pieces presented as the pinnacle of northern fashion,” says Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Hull School Art & Design, Sarah Humphreys.

“This opportunity to participate in this fashion event is building on the school’s strong track record of student success; in 2015, we were the only fashion degree college in the country to create a collection for The Great Yorkshire fashion event, we produced a winner at the Anti-Fur Awards and had seven students as finalists in the National Bridal Buyer student awards.”

The Northern Youth Fashion Show aims to display the talent and creativity of students studying fashion in the north of Britain, as well as raise money for refugee charities.
